On the large white board at a exercise studio downtown, my fellow spinners seem to enjoy answering the question of the month posted by the staff. It's a fun community building activity. This month's question is: "What's the best advice you've ever received?" Hmmm...
To whom do you turn to for advice during this hectic season of high school and college graduations, college acceptances (and rejections), and the imminent return home of many college students for the summer? Of course, And So We Pray strives to offer you faith-based encouragement for every situation, but sometimes it can help to just sit down and chat with a another woman. Ideally, she'd be wise beyond her years, kind and compassionate, someone who loves you like a daughter.
Here's my recommendation: When you need advice ask your mother!
May is the month of our mother, Mary. She's eager to listen to our concerns and bring them personally to her Son, Jesus.
What can our heavenly mother do for us?
Mary undoes the knots we find in our lives: She is Mary, Untier of Knots
Mary shields and protects us: She is Our Lady of the Rosary
Mary wins graces for us: She is Mediatrix of Grace
Mary comforts us when we're suffering: She is Comforter of the Afflicted
And Mary is happy to do so much more for each of us, her children, whenever we ask for help! Let's take some time during this month of May to show our love for Mary. How about an extra rosary, a pilgrimage to a nearby statue or shrine, a visit to the Blessed Sacrament in her honor, or a daily Mass. Nothing makes Mary more happy than when we are drawn closer to her son.
